Meet the New York Team Behind Marsh Water Damage New York

Water damage in New York doesn’t follow a schedule, and neither do the people who show up to fix it. Our crew is built from technicians who’ve spent years in basements, crawlspaces, and behind drywall across all five boroughs and into Westchester. What unites them isn’t a uniform, though they all wear one. It’s a shared refusal to leave a job until the moisture meter says the structure is dry, not just the surface. Every person below is background-checked, identity-verified, and photo-badged before they ever ring your doorbell. You’ll know exactly who’s coming, by name, before they arrive.

Our People

Tobias Reyner – Owner & Lead Restoration Technician

Tobias founded Marsh Water Damage New York in 2005 and still runs jobs himself, which is rare in this trade and matters more than most people realize. He holds IICRC certifications in water damage restoration and applied structural drying, and he’s spent two decades learning what actually works in New York’s older housing stock. Brownstones in Park Slope, prewar co-ops on the Upper West Side, converted industrial lofts in Long Island City. Each one dries differently, and Tobias knows when a plaster wall needs another day versus when it’s genuinely dry. He writes every scope himself, prices it in writing, and stands behind it for 365 days. The Done Right Promise printed on your work order has his name on it.

Marcus D. – Senior Field Technician

Marcus has been with Marsh for eleven years and runs most of the larger commercial and residential mitigation jobs. His specialty is large-loss water extraction, the kind where a supply line lets go on the top floor and water travels through three levels before anyone notices. Marcus is certified through the RIA in advanced structural drying and handles the Dri-Eaz and Phoenix equipment setups on every job he touches. He’s the guy who maps out the drying plan, places each air mover where it will actually do something, and checks psychrometric readings, which means measuring the moisture in the air itself, not just the surfaces, until the numbers prove the job is done. He lives in Queens and has strong opinions about where to get a good baconeggandcheese at 6 a.m., which he will share only if you ask.

Elena R. – Service Coordinator

Elena is the voice on the phone at 2 a.m. when a pipe bursts in your kitchen and you don’t know what to do first. She’s been coordinating restoration crews in New York since 2012 and joined Marsh four years ago. Her job is to get a crew dispatched, get your insurance information logged, and keep you informed about who’s coming and when. Elena knows what questions to ask before a technician ever arrives, like whether there’s a breaker panel near the water source and whether the floors are wood, tile, or something else, because those details change how the crew prepares. She speaks English and Spanish fluently and has a talent for calming people down without ever sounding dismissive about why they’re upset. The call always gets answered. That’s the rule, and she’s the one enforcing it.

Devon T. – Apprentice Technician

Devon joined the crew two years ago through an apprenticeship program and works under Tobias and Marcus on residential water damage and mold remediation jobs. He’s currently working toward his IICRC water restoration certification and handles a lot of the essential but unglamorous work: extracting standing water, setting up containment barriers for mold jobs, tagging and photographing damaged materials for insurance claims. Devon is the one taking the time-stamped photos that go to your adjuster, which matters more than most homeowners realize when it’s time to get a claim approved. He grew up in the Bronx and can usually tell you within a few blocks where a job is just by the address, which comes in handy when parking is an issue, and parking is always an issue.

One Standard, Every Job

The Threshold Standard is what every technician at Marsh Water Damage New York follows on every visit, whether it’s a small bathroom leak in Astoria or a flooded basement in Riverdale. It has five steps, and none of them are optional. First, every technician is background-checked, identity-verified, and sent to you by name and photo before arrival. Second, they show a photo ID badge at the door, every time, no exceptions. Third, you get a written price before any work begins. Fourth, the crew uses commercial extraction and drying equipment from Dri-Eaz, Phoenix, XPOWER, B-Air, and Injectidry, operated by IICRC, RIA, and IFA credentialed technicians. Fifth, every repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if the repair isn’t right within a full year, Marsh makes it right with a free second visit. Not a phone call to argue about it. Just a second visit, scheduled, documented, done. That’s the standard, and it’s printed on every work order we write in New York.
